At Dial Chevrolet of Chicago, we understand that purchasing a vehicle is an important decision and a significant investment. Our goal is to provide a transparent, professional, and respectful experience before, during, and after your purchase.
While vehicle purchases are generally final once all agreements are completed and the vehicle has been delivered, we recognize that unique situations may arise. Our Voluntary Return Policy is designed to provide a clear process for customers who experience unexpected circumstances and request consideration for a vehicle return.
Our commitment includes:
- Transparency: We will clearly explain the purchase process, vehicle details, financing options, fees, and ownership responsibilities before completing your transaction.
- Fair Consideration: Any voluntary return request will be reviewed carefully and individually by dealership management based on the circumstances and applicable policy requirements.
- Professional Service: Our team will treat every customer with respect, fairness, and professionalism throughout the ownership experience.
- Clear Communication: We will provide customers with a clear explanation of any applicable fees, deductions, or requirements related to an approved return.
- Customer Support: Our team is available to assist customers with questions regarding their purchase, financing agreement, vehicle ownership, or available options.
Our mission is to build long-term relationships with our customers by providing an exceptional ownership experience built on trust, integrity, and transparency.
1. Vehicle Purchase Finality
Except as otherwise required by applicable law or expressly authorized in writing by Dial Chevrolet of Chicago, all vehicle sales are final. Illinois law does not provide a “cooling-off” period or automatic right to return a new or used motor vehicle purchased from a licensed motor vehicle dealer because the purchaser changes their mind, is dissatisfied with the purchase, or is unable to make the required loan or lease payments.
Once all purchase, financing, and delivery documents have been executed and the vehicle has been delivered, the purchaser assumes ownership of the vehicle and remains legally obligated to comply with all terms and conditions of the purchase agreement, retail installment contract, or lease agreement.
Returning a vehicle to the dealership does not cancel the purchase contract, financing agreement, or lease agreement, nor does it eliminate the purchaser’s financial obligations. The purchaser may remain responsible for any unpaid loan balance, accrued interest, finance charges, repossession costs, deficiency balance, and any other amounts due under the applicable agreements and Illinois law.
2. New Vehicle Voluntary Return or Exchange Policy
All new vehicle returns are governed by the applicable policies and procedures of the vehicle manufacturer.
Any dealership-approved voluntary return of a new vehicle must receive prior written approval from the New Vehicle Director. Approval is granted solely at the dealership’s discretion and only on a case-by-case basis.
Unless prohibited by law or the manufacturer’s return program, the following fees and conditions shall apply:
- Restocking Fee: Twenty-five percent (25%) of the total purchase price.
- Mileage Limitation: Vehicles driven more than 250 miles beyond the odometer reading at delivery are not eligible for return unless otherwise authorized by the manufacturer.
- Mileage Charge: $2.00 per mile from the odometer reading at delivery, if applicable.
- Reconditioning Fee: $250.00.
- Documentation/Processing Fee: $150.00.
- Missing Key or Key Fob Fee: $550.00 for each missing key or key fob.
- Missing Items Fee: $150.00 for each missing license plate, registration document, owner’s manual, charging cable (if applicable), or any other item delivered with the vehicle.
3. Used Vehicle Voluntary Return or Exchange Policy
Dial Chevrolet of Chicago may, at its sole and absolute discretion, accept a voluntary return of a used vehicle on a case-by-case basis. This policy does not provide customers with an automatic right to return a vehicle and does not modify any purchase agreement, retail installment contract, lease agreement, or applicable law.

- All original keys, key fobs, owner’s manuals, accessories, license plates (if applicable), registration documents, charging cables (if applicable), and all other items originally delivered with the vehicle are returned.

6. Reservation of Rights
Dial Chevrolet of Chicago reserves the right to approve or deny any request for a voluntary vehicle return, with or without cause, in its sole and absolute discretion.
Approval of any previous voluntary return shall not establish a policy, precedent, or obligation to approve any future request.
This Vehicle Return Policy does not create a contractual right to return any vehicle and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued by the dealership at any time without prior notice, except where prohibited by law.
